Formed in June 1999 by drummer Colin Appleby to provide one to one drum tuition on the Fylde coast RockBeats UK have grown from a small, garage based hobby into a thriving small business. Having started playing the drums at the age of 16, after 3 years of playing guitar, to fill the gap of band drummer until a replacement could be found.

Colin's philosophy on drumming and live music is that it has to be fun and accessable. You need to listen and appreciate many different styles of music, technical ability and musicality as well as developing as an individual musician, which means finding your own musical voice and not becoming a copy of any particular drummer. Each drummer is unique, moulded from a host of influences and role models. The power to evaluate and analyse yourself and others is a vital tool in developing weaknesses into strengths and producing a better rounded musician.

The music is the key to what we do, you must initially play for the song and give your individuality to that piece of music.
